Welcome to the flowery coast, and more precisely to the Presqu’île de la Touques, halfway between chic Deauville and elusive Trouville. It is right here that Pierre & Vacances opened in May 2018 its first premium 5-star residence by the sea – La Presqu’île de la Touques*****, located just a few steps from the train station.

Three years later, on 11 July 2021, the brand will inaugurate Le Bâtiment des Douanes, a true extension of the Presqu’île de la Touques***** residence, a building steeped in history that Pierre & Vacances has protected and restored by highlighting the 19th century architectural heritage.

The Bâtiment des Douanes, a residence that respects its history and its environment 

Located at the north-east end of the Touques peninsula, the Bâtiment des Douanes is one of the oldest buildings in the resort still standing. Built between 1861 and 1866 and named the “Customs Barracks” at the time, the original house consisted of offices for customs officers on the ground floor and accommodation in the upper parts. This building, which is steeped in history, is fully in keeping with Deauville’s heritage and typical Norman architecture.

The interior has benefited from a large-scale restructuring as well as an identical renovation of the façade to respect the historical aspect of this emblematic building, with the creation of certain balconies.

Completely renovated, the Bâtiment des Douanes now comprises 28 spacious, bright and elegant flats ranging from studios to 4-room apartments that can accommodate up to 8 people. 

The living room offers unique views of the marina, Deauville, Trouville or the residence’s inner courtyard, as you wish! As for the master bedroom, it benefits from a harmonious atmosphere and a decoration evoking the seaside with its blue and white tones.

“We wanted to integrate contemporary design codes to bring modernity to the building while telling its story through references and nods to the Belle Epoque of Deauville. We designed a soft and warm atmosphere composed of wood, grey and deep blue, beige, decorative lighting, wallpaper for the headboards and brass, copper and black finishes to bring contrast, identity and modernity. The fittings and decorative atmosphere thus highlight the volumes and views of this historic building,” explains Eloïse Bied-Charreton, Director of the Concept & Design Department, Pierre & Vacances-Center Parcs Group.

The Bâtiment des Douanes will adopt an environmental approach to its management: waste sorting, water and energy management, and awareness-raising among holidaymakers. The car park has charging points for electric cars.

Holidaymakers will be able to take advantage of the services and infrastructures of the main building, in particular: access to the heated indoor and outdoor swimming pool decorated in a lounge style with armchairs reminiscent of seaside cabins, rest beds and a paddling pool for children; but also the sauna, hammam, Deep Nature® Spa, the breakfast or fitness room, the concierge service…
