Operations Manager at maeva

My career path within the PVCPTeam

I joined Maeva Latitude as operations controller. I was soon offered the chance to broaden my skills, with a position as sales manager for groups and seminars in the south of France. After that, every 3 or 4 years, the company always offered me new positions and promotions, which enabled me to change registers, brands and activities. I successively managed a hotel in Les Ménuires, then a major residence in Val Thorens, before taking over the management of a 500-unit village in the Camargue. It was a flagship convention center, with three restaurants, three bars, a 9-hole golf course, a 1,000-seat convention hall and an equestrian center. I then took over responsibility for a high-volume site in the Vendée, a region I didn’t know and wanted to discover.

It’s possible to stay with the same Group for more than 20 years and still renew yourself!

My managers knew that my desire to move and learn was a source of wealth. Right from my first job, I wanted to open up new horizons and get out of my comfort zone on a regular basis. Within the Group, this was possible, without changing company! As my example shows, you can change environment without going to the competition! Especially as here you find a human environment and values that make you want to stay. I’ve been the Operations Director of the maeva for 7 years. In this role, I’ve had to support a change in business model that wasn’t easy for the company’s teams, because with maeva.com, we started renting from one person to another. My experience and legitimacy were assets in convincing my peers and supporting this change.

To me, “getting back to basics” means… ?

Among other things, cooking for my friends and family. I love it. When I was a site manager, I sometimes spent half a day in the kitchens of our restaurants, observing and learning. Today, I use this experience to prepare French gastronomic recipes or try to reproduce my mother’s dishes from my childhood in Cameroon!
